After an outage that lasted for over a week, Andale came back online Saturday evening. A new message on the outage announcement page states in part, "Our services are now back up; the site is fine for launching new ads and conducting your normal business as nothing further will be lost."
Andale customers who use the service to launch listings to eBay had their confidence shaken after an outage that started October 28 and disrupted their eBay selling activities. A bug in the vendor database software was blamed for the problems.
eBay began posting announcements about the Andale problems on November 1. Andale provides research tools in addition to eBay listing tools. Andale provides free counters to eBay users as part of an exclusive contract with eBay that expires next year.
Andale's most recent announcement includes specific advice for eBay sellers in helping to recover missing data. Andale said it had been successful in retrieving 95 percent of the listings, but said the rest of the data was corrupt and may not be recoverable.
Grumblings from sellers indicate not all is well, however. Many are asking about alternative listing tools, with some reporting they are consulting lawyers (http://digbig.com/4fesw).
