PayPal announced on its developers blog that its eBay-owned PayPal payment service is now integrated with Yahoo Stores. Merchants can make PayPal their only payment method or add PayPal to their existing payment methods. Fees for PayPal Premier/Business Account transactions range from 1.9 percent to 2.9 percent plus 30 cents per transaction.
PayPal, which was for many years primarily used on eBay, has been pushing to reach online merchants on other marketplaces. Last month, PayPal agreed to acquire VeriSign's payment gateway business, which allows merchants to authorize, process and manage online payments, for approximately $370 million. PayPal plans to accelerate its merchant services business by expanding its customer base to tens of thousands of new small and medium-sized business customers online, it said at the time.
Earlier this week, Dell announced it had begun accepting PayPal as a form of payment on its site, and Apple has been accepting PayPal as a payment method for users downloading music from its iTunes store for almost a year.
