One hundred eBay PowerSellers were treated to breakfast by eBay on Tuesday as a token of appreciation from the auction site. eBay said it randomly selected the PowerSellers to receive the treat. The breakfast tray was brought to the recipient's door by an individual in a white eBay apron, eBay branded slippers and the morning paper.

eBay spokesperson Dean Jutilla said, "We recognize that eBay sellers are incredibly busy over the holidays running their businesses, filling orders, going to the post office and answering emails. We wanted to show some token of our appreciation and give them some pampering. What better way to do that than breakfast in bed?"

Charlene Anderson, who has been a registered member of eBay since 1998 and currently sells under the user ID maineventmovies, said, "I just had a visit from an eBay rep this morning with breakfast in bed, as a thank you and a respite from listing, shipping and packing. I though it was a wonderful touch..." Other sellers said the visit was fun, and Jutilla said the reaction "was incredibly positive both in homes and on the boards."

The appreciation program generated free publicity for eBay, as many recipients took pictures of the breakfast tray and posted them to online forums, and local papers like the Detroit Free Press published articles about the program (http://digbig.com/4fpfq).
