eBay Says Sign-In Problem Is Resolved

eBay said on Monday that sign-in issues have been resolved, although some members are still complaining of problems. Monday's sign-in problem was related to a glitch that occurred last week after eBay rolled out new code to the site. The code caused a small number of users to receive incorrect cookies, eBay said. Some users complained Friday that when they signed in to their accounts, someone else's name appeared on their eBay sign-in page. eBay rolled back some of the code late on Friday. eBay spokesperson Hani Durzy said that no financial information was ever exposed, and he said that Friday's problem affected a very small number of users.

To fix the problem, eBay automatically required all users to sign in upon returning to eBay. This sign-in requirement resulted in slowness and intermittent unavailability of the sign-in feature on Monday due to traffic issues. Durzy said Monday's sign-in issues lasted two hours and was not considered a hard outage since some people were able to sign in and place bids during Monday's issues.
