Despite the fact eBay said it would no longer consider live-pet listings on eBay.com, controversy remains alive on discussion boards. By raising the possibility of such listings last Friday, eBay brought attention to the fact that listings for live animals can be found on some international sites and on its sister sites on Kijiji. eBay said on Monday it had discarded the idea of pet classifieds, and has taken the step of contacting Petfinder.com.
eBay seller Laura Dapkus wrote a letter to eBay CEO Meg Whitman about eBay's policies on its international sites, stating she can no longer be associated with eBay if such live-animal listings continue. She posted the letter on her website (http://lucysfabrics.com/nopetsonebay.aspx). Such sentiments are echoed on discussion boards.
eBay did not get back to AuctionBytes with details about their international policy on live animals by press time.
