Reading AuctionBytes: 'Pixel Hustler' Sells Last MillionDollarHomePage Ads on eBay

The website MillionDollarHomepage.com is selling the last 1,000 pixels of its advertising space in an eBay auction that ends on January 11, 2006. Alex Tew created the site to sell ads on a pixel-by-pixel basis (he actually sells them in 100-pixel blocks, each measuring 10x10 pixels). Charging a dollar per pixel with 1 million pixels available, he started the business to raise enough money (one million dollars) so he would not be broke when he graduated college. He says he's made $999,000 so far.

Tew, who lives in England, says the ads will be displayed on MillionDollarHomepage.com permanently, and guarantees they will be there for at least 5 years.

Tew writes on his site, "I am pixel hustler and proud!" and includes a picture of himself holding his university acceptance form to prove to doubters that he is actually 21 and going to University, as stated on the website.

With over 8 days left to go Monday evening, the pixel auction had reached $21,400 with 63 bids and had been viewed over 68,000 times.

There's an eBay version of the MillionDollarHomepage at ebaypixelpage.com. It charges 20 cents per pixel, or $10 per 10 x 10 pixel block.
