AERS Inc., which markets the Terapeak research tool for eBay sellers, has set up a division called DataUnison to expand their product offering to include the sale of data licenses directly from eBay. DataUnison can provide eBay's raw data in unprocessed flat files or industry analysis reports, or customers can license DataUnison's proprietary research engine.
AERS' other company, Terapeak, provides a service for eBay sellers to help them research product performance on the auction site, such as average selling prices and sell-through rates. Terepeak also provides a Research API, which delivers the analysis and summaries of eBay data, but no raw eBay data. The Research API is available to third-party service providers or to eBay sellers and buyers who want to add research to their applications.
Andrew Sukow, AERS' Chief Technical Officer, said, "A DataUnison data license gives you the raw data, which allows a company to have more control over what analysis they can do, whereas the Terapeak Research API analysis is predefined."
