Publishing company Primedia Inc.'s Consumer Guides has acquired RentClicks.com, "the largest online marketplace for small unit rental properties, which is the largest segment of the rental market," according to the press release. Primedia Inc.'s Consumer Guides publishes and distributes apartment, new home and auto guides and their respective Web sites, ApartmentGuide.com, AutoGuide.com and NewHomeGuide.com. Financial terms were not disclosed.

RentClicks provides landlords, investors, and property managers with a Web-based tool to advertise rental properties and maintains over 12,000 active listing.

RentClicks.com competes with eBay-owned Rent.com, which says it has more than 5.1 million apartment units and 22,000 properties listed in more than 1,500 real estate markets across the country.
