Reading AuctionBytes: Skip McGrath Authors 'How to Start and Run an eBay Consignment Business'

To help aspiring eBay entrepreneurs with their consignment business, Skip McGrath has authored, "How to Start and Run an eBay Consignment Business" (McGraw-Hill 2006). In it, McGrath explains how to locate and work with consignors and successfully deal in the goods they want to sell, including collectibles, retail store closeouts, estate items, corporate merchandise, and much more.

McGrath provides information on how to become a certified eBay Trading Assistant, how to set fees and a commission schedule, and who will need a local or state business license, in addition to many other practical tips. The book includes sample contracts, forms, and fliers that can be downloaded from a special web site prepared for buyers of the book.

Skip McGrath is a certified eBay Trading Assistant and has been an eBay PowerSeller since 1999. He and his wife Karen started selling antiques and collectibles from their antique store in the early days of eBay. After gaining experience from hundreds of successful auctions, Skip wrote his first book in 2000, The eBay Power Seller's Manual. In early 2000, Skip launched The Auction Seller's Resource (www.SkipMcGrath.com) and began publishing The eBay Seller's News, a monthly newsletter for professional auction sellers. He also wrote the Auction Tips column for the PayPal periodical.
