Google's latest release of Google Desktop contained a new eBay plug-in called eBay Watcher. Google has now contributed the open-source application to eBay's Community Codebase, according to a blog entry by Alan Lewis, technical evangelist in the eBay Developers Program. The Community Codebase is eBay's online forum where developers collaborate on open source projects.

eBay Watcher allows Google Desktop users to keep track of items on eBay watch lists. eBay users can track the current price and time remaining on auctions they are watching. Now that the application is part of Community Codebase, eBay developers are allowed to contribute enhancements to the tool.
