Auctiva announced this week it was moving to a new hosting facility. Some users complained on Thursday that they were unable to access the website. Auctiva's Jeff Schlicht said the site was up and accessible, but users were running into DNS issues.
DNS (Domain Name System or Domain Name Server) is used to attach IP addresses to easy-to-remember domain names, so when the IP address changes, it takes time for the DNS to propagate throughout the Internet. That explains why some people had no problems while others did.
Schlicht suggested people having problems try access the site using the IP addresses until the DNS has a chance to propagate: http://209.209.37.42 or http://209.209.37.123.
