Chinese research f irm Analysys International said China's customer-to-customer (C2C) market users reached 37.87 million by the end of 2005, more than doubled from 15 million in 2004. Total transaction value increased from RMB 4.16 billion in 2004 to 13.924 billion in 2005.

The firm said Taobao occupied a leading 57.74 percent share of the total transaction value of China's C2C market in 2005, followed by eBay China 31.46 percent, 1Pai.com.cn 5.75 percent, and Paipai.com 3.76 percent. It expects differences between the C2C service providers will decrease and said the market growth may slow down in 2006 and 2007, due to heavy market competition, challenges to the business model and slow corporate user growth. Analysys International's research report China C2C Market Quarterly Tracker Q4 2005 contains more information.
