CityXpress Corp., a service that enables newspapers to host online auction events, announced it has signed Innovator AB as a reseller in Scandinavia. CityXpress' first auction in Scandinavia was staged November 28-December 7 by Sydsvenska Dagbladet, a newspaper in Sweden published by Bonnier AB. During the 10-day auction, the newspaper generated 6,087,662 krona (approx. $773,050), and sold nearly 90 percent of the products listed. In addition, the newspaper was able to attract a 19 percent increase in activity for new and previously inactive advertisers through the auction.

CityXpress Managing Director of International Operations Peter de Souza said, "As our event auction program has proven time and time again, newspaper auctions are, and will continue to be, one of the most effective ways for newspapers to generate new revenue and new advertisers, and we look forward to working with Innovator AB to bring the program to other papers across Scandinavia."

Late last year, CityXpress announced the opening of its new international division based in London to guide the company's continuing expansion into European and Australasian markets. Since 2002, CityXpress has staged more than 500 event auctions generating more than $110 million for newspapers in nine countries.
