Online auction site WhaBam announced its exit from beta. Now in full release, the marketplace says it has over 19,000 listings ranging from cars, homes, jewelry, collectibles, computer hardware, sporting goods and more. WhaBam has forged partnerships with companies in several categories, including automotive, electronics and real estate.
WhaBam launched in beta mode in September 2005. There is no fee for using the site's storefront feature and no listing fees. Instead, sellers choose between a subscription fee ($49.95/month with no other fees and unlimited item listings) or a 1 percent commission fee (with a maximum of $25 per item).
WhaBam says its technical staff reviews site listings daily and adds keywords to its search criteria that will help buyers find merchandise for sale on the site.
Eren Niazi, founder and CEO of WhaBam, said, "Despite our growing site activity, WhaBam's technology infrastructure has proven to be stable, fast and bug-free. We're pleased to mark this next phase in our growth by exiting from beta." Niazi also said the number 10 top-ranked BMW dealership recently joined WhaBam.
