Participants in the OTWA auction-industry forums have been speculating on whether eBay is planning to make changes to its feedback system. Currently eBay users can leave feedback for their trading partners, rating them positive, negative or neutral, with room for a one-line comment.
According to a poster on OTWA, eBay sent him a survey on the topic of feedback. One of the questions indicated eBay is considering allowing buyers to rate certain aspects of the transaction - such as seller communication, item as described, shipping and handling charges, and shipping times - on a 5-point scale addition to the overall feedback rating of positive, negative or neutral. Under the hypothetical situation, sellers would only be able to view the additional feedback after the seller has left his or her rating for the buyer.
eBay spokesperson Catherine England would not confirm or deny any changes to the feedback system. She said, "We are constantly communicating with our community about the site and its many features - including our feedback system - and we will continue to refine and make improvements on an ongoing basis. We can't comment on features or changes that haven't been introduced yet."
