Overstock Auctions Integrates Payment System

Overstock.com has integrated Auction Checkout's payment service into its auction platform. Third-party sellers on Overstock.com Auctions can now accept credit card payments for auction sales without having a credit-card merchant account.

Overstock.com Auctions told users in January it was testing the feature, and now it is marketing the checkout integration through emails to users. Sellers who sign up for O-Auctions Checkout will have a logo appear in their listings. Buyers can click on the logo and pay with their credit card without the need to register.

Auction Checkout charges Overstock.com Auctions sellers $24/month, plus 2.19 percent of the transaction amount and a 24-cent per-transaction fee.

eBay's online payment service PayPal charges sellers either a standard rate of 2.9 percent plus 30 cents per transaction, or a merchant rate of 2.2 percent plus 30 cents per transaction (see the PayPal website for details http://digbig.com/4hhmd). Note that Overstock.com Auctions mentions on its site that not all channel management services support O-Auctions Checkout.

Overstock.com Auctions also announced enhancements related to site design and search-engine optimization (http://digbig.com/4hhpw).
