eBay had a glitch in which listings that were being added or relisted were returning error messages between 8am and 1pm on Wednesday May 17, 2006. eBay posted a message on the Systems Announcement Board at 2:17 pm PT stating "listing problems have been resolved" (http://www2.ebay.com/aw/announce.shtml).
Some users had complained they were receiving error messages relating to Javascript, leading one to speculate, "Apparently, eBay is tightening some of its JavaScript rules, and I think today was a harbinger of that." Some scammers have used Javascript vulnerabilities to spoof eBay listings (http://www.auctionbytes.com/cab/abn/y04/m10/i04/s01). An eBay spokesperson did not get back to AuctionBytes by press time to address the Javascript issue.
Earlier in the week, eBay had posted that there were inconsistencies within search results. "Members may currently be noticing that in some cases items listed within the last ten hours may be inconsistently appearing within search results. We identified the issues and are working to resolve them as quickly as possible," and followed up with an announcement that the issue had been resolved (http://www2.ebay.com/aw/core/200605161211561.html). Members have actually been complaining for months about a similar problem with Store search results.
