eBay's comparison-shopping site Shopping.com has launched its service in Australia. Shopping.com Australia debuted on Monday with over 200 Australian retailers and more than half a million products, as well as proprietary content that includes product reviews and a retailer reviews program.
Shopping.com has secured large, well-known Australian retailers as well as smaller retailers in hundreds of categories ranging from consumer electronics to health aids and toys. Notable retailers include Dick Smith, Apple, and Dell, as well as specialty retailers such as EzyDVD, Deals Direct, Peter's of Kensington and Strawberrynet.
More than 25 percent of products at Shopping.com will come from overseas retailers at the time of launch. Transparency of all cost and delivery requirements will be included, and all costs will be converted to Australian dollars with tax and delivery charges displayed. Shopping.com launched in the United States in 1997, the United Kingdom in 2001, and in France and Germany in 2005.
