PayPal announced it has made Rene Pelegero Senior Director of Industry Relations, Strategy and Compliance for the financial services department. He will be responsible for defining strategy for and managing PayPal's relations with the financial services industry.

Previously Pelegero served as Director of Global Payments at Amazon.com responsible for all aspects of payments processing for more than 30 million customers, managing relationships with banks, processors, credit card companies and associations.

Prior to joining PayPal, Pelegero was president and managing director at RPGC Group LLC, an ecommerce consultancy practice where he provided advice to some of the largest and well known Internet merchants in the world in areas such as strategic planning, payment process optimization, and launching global payments acceptance.

On Thursday, eBay announced a strategic partnership with Yahoo. As part of the deal, Yahoo will make PayPal the exclusive third-party provider of its online wallet. Yahoo will integrate PayPal on the Yahoo site and will promote PayPal as Yahoo's payment solution to Yahoo's merchants and publishers, which includes the Yahoo Publisher Network, Yahoo Search Marketing, Yahoo Merchant Solutions and other small business services.

PayPal continues to expand its service beyond eBay as well as internationally. PayPal also announced on Thursday a new credit card. PayPal Plus is a new MasterCard that can be used online and offline, anywhere that MasterCard is accepted. PayPal Plus features a rewards program that earn points towards eBay Reward Coupons.
