eBay is holding its Developers Conference June 10 - 12 in Las Vegas, immediately preceding its fifth annual eBay Live user conference. The program will kick off with eBay's Corporate Strategy Officer Michael Van Swaaij speaking on how eBay's corporate vision for the eBay companies will shape the future of the Internet and provide developers with global opportunities. The scope of this year's conference has expanded to include Skype and Shopping.com as well as eBay and PayPal.
In addition to technical sessions such as, "Talking to eBay Using AJAX" and "Building Applications for the Business Web: eBay, Skype and AppExchange," there will be sessions focusing on business development and marketing. One session features a panel of venture capitalists helping vendors understand how to fund and pitch their businesses. In another session, Anil Dash of blogging company Six Apart will speak on "Building Your Business with Blogs."
Chris Anderson, Editor-in-Chief of Wired Magazine, will give a talk entitled, "Lessons from The Long Tail and What It Means for You" to discuss some of the things he writes about in his forthcoming book, "The Long Tail." He will later moderate a discussion with eBay founder and Chairman Pierre Omidyar and Intuit founder and eBay board member Scott Cook.
eBay is calling Monday its "unconference" consisting of group discussions, roundtables and one-to-one discussions to help developers get their questions answered. More information on the eBay Developer Conference is found on the eBay website.
