After eBay's first European community conference in 2003 in Berlin, Dusseldorf was the host city of eBay Live on May 26 -27, 2006. With over 4,000 attendees, it was the biggest eBay event organized in Europe.
As the second market after the US, eBay Germany has had a very successful year in 2005:
- 20 millions members registered in Germany
- 216 000 members who are business sellers on the site
- More than 64,000 members making their live (or a part) on eBay
- 3,000 trading assistants in Germany
The two days of eBay Live Europe included meetings and seminars on promoting and increasing business on eBay. Twenty-five exhibitors along with eBay category managers and customer support representatives were available for tips and assistance and also promoted upcoming services such as eBay Express.
eBay-owned Shopping.com (established in Germany in November 2005), Skype and PayPal were in attendance, and eBay partner DHL announced a very aggressive price policy of up to 40% off beginning July 1st.
There were fun events (a giant human Baby foot was featured to celebrate the World soccer Cup in Germany starting on June 9th), and the official Soccer team of Trinidad & Tobago, sponsored by eBay, was part of the event. eBay ended the conference with a Caribbean party night. Photos of the event can be found on the eBay Germany website.
