eBay's Bill Cobb may make an announcement at Tuesday's eBay Live conference about how the company will deal with sellers who gouge buyers on shipping charges. Sellers who game the system by offering items at a low price with inflated shipping and handling charges show up higher in search results that are sorted by price.
eBay CEO Meg Whitman is also expected to make an announcement about Skype, its internet telephony service. eBay has integrated Skype into some international sites in some categories, including Belgium and China. She had told analysists in the Spring that the average selling prices for Chinese listings with Skype are higher than those listings without Skype.
eBay's fifth annual user conference is taking place this week in Las Vegas and kicks off with classes, networking opportunities and an exhibit hall on Tuesday.
