Reading AuctionBytes: PayPal Co-Founder Launches eBay Version of Slide-Show App

Slide Inc. announced a version of its custom "slide show" application for eBay sellers. Slide delivers custom, scrolling slide-shows of photos, news, merchandise and other digital content to viewer's desktops and Web sites. The company has officially launched "Slide for eBay," a free Web and desktop application designed for eBay sellers to showcase and cross-promote their listings.

PayPal co-founder Max Levchin has launched Slide for eBay, a cross-marketing tool.

The eBay version of Slide had been in limited trials since January this year. Platinum PowerSeller Steve Grossberg of Budget Video Games Inc. ("1busyman"), has been testing the tool. Grossberg was quoted in the Slide press release, "Including Slide on our listings has allowed us to promote our broader inventory, which has resulted in increased sales and a more dynamic browsing experience for our customers. Slide is also incredibly easy to use and takes just seconds to set up, so I'm very happy with the service."

Slides can be embedded into each listing, an eBay Store or the sellers' own Web site. And buyers can choose to download Slide, allowing them to keep track of their favorite listings or merchants directly from their desktops.

Max Levchin, one of the co-founders of PayPal and its Chief Technology Officer, is CEO and founder of Slide. "The launch of Slide for eBay is a significant milestone for us because it supports one of our core business models, which is ecommerce," Levchin said.

Slide Inc. is a member of the eBay Developers Program.
