Reading AuctionBytes: eBay Giving Works to Run 'Spotlight on Breast Cancer' Campaign

This October, eBay Giving Works, the dedicated program for charity listings on eBay, is highlighting listings that will benefit nonprofits working to raise awareness of breast cancer in the Spotlight on Breast Cancer campaign. To help nonprofits get the most out of the campaign, MissionFish is hosting a webinar September 15th at 2pm EST. Topics will include how nonprofits can get their supporters involved, promotion techniques, and how community selling raises revenue. To participate, breast cancer nonprofits should email agatewood@missionfish.org for the conference call-in number and PIN number no later than 15 minutes prior to the webinar's start time.

"Whether they are new to MissionFish and eBay Giving Works or old pros, nonprofits will gain a greater understanding of how they can reach out to their constituents and encourage more community selling with this webinar. The Spotlight on Breast Cancer campaign will give breast cancer nonprofits the opportunity to earn extra funds so they can continue their life-changing work" said Sean Milliken, Executive Director of MissionFish, the entity that powers eBay Giving Works.

"There are over 80 breast cancer groups registered with MissionFish. We'll discuss how they can get the most out of the program and take advantage of the extensive promotion eBay is doing around this campaign," said David Yaskulka, President of Harris Michael. Yaskulka, a well-known eBay PowerSeller and eBay Giving Works participant will co-host of the webinar. "I know firsthand the generosity of the eBay community. When eBay sellers and great causes join forces, there is tremendous mutual benefit."

Spotlight On a Cause draws attention to important issues throughout the year and encourages sellers to list on behalf of nonprofits dedicated to the featured cause. With eBay Giving Works, sellers list an item on eBay and elect to donate 10% to 100% of the final sale price to a participating nonprofit. Nonprofits can also sell directly with the program and raise revenue from in-kind gifts. To date, MissionFish has helped over 8,500 nonprofits raise over $30 million.

eBay Giving Works will be fully supporting the Spotlight On a Cause program with a variety of promotion including site ads.
