Reading AuctionBytes: Auction Site Delcampe Introduces Electronic Wallet

Online auction site Delcampe has teamed up with payment service MoneyBookers to create "E-Wallet" to help members facilitate trading domestically and internationally. MoneyBookers.com is a UK service launched in April 2002 to allow users to send and receive money via email, and allows users to fund payments with credit cards, domestic and international bank transfer and checks (http://www.moneybookers.com).

Delcampe's E-Wallet accounts are free, and there is no charge for buyers to send payment. Sellers receiving money through MoneyBookers pay a 2% commission fee. There are extra fees depending on payment method and currency conversion.

It works when an item is purchased on Delcampe. Sellers can send an automatic invoice by email with all the details and fees for the items concerned; the buyer clicks on "pay seller with Electronic Wallet." This link comes along with the automatic invoice sent by the seller. He or she checks the information and confirms payment. At that point, the seller is notified by email about the payment and can send the items.

According to Delcampe's announcement, the E-Wallet feature will make buying and selling easier, and buyers will be less hesitant when it comes to international transactions.

Delcampe was founded in 2000 and focuses on collectibles. It was initially composed of French speakers from Belgium and France but grew internationally. Late last year, Delcampe opened websites in the United States, Great Britain, Germany, Spain, Italy and Netherlands and is available in six different languages: English, French, Spanish, Italian, German and Dutch.
