eBay announced My World, which it is calling an updated profile page that "enables you to showcase your personality and interests by combining many of the features already available on eBay." The concept is similar to MySpace, a popular community site with social networking features. eBay's My World will let users draw from existing features on eBay, such as their feedback profiles and eBay Blogs, as well as allowing them to add new content, such as a bio and photos.

eBay sellers can include listings of items for sale on their My World page, and eBay Store sellers will have a Store module with customizable promotion boxes.

My World, which was originally outed by an industry blog (http://digbig.com/4myjw), will be launched in two phases. eBay members may begin customizing their pages this week by going to the My World page and clicking on the Get Started button. Each member will have their own URL at http://myworld.ebay.com/(yourUserID). Beginning in mid-October, members' My World pages can be accessed by clicking on their User ID. eBay is holding a workshop on the new feature October 5th at 2pm PT.
