Sellers on eBay's Half.com marketplace are complaining of technical problems in which newly listed items are not appearing on the site. Sellers are describing problems on a thread on the eBay discussion forums, and say they have heard nothing from Half.com about the issues since September 27, when the problems first surfaced.
Late in the day on Saturday, some sellers reported receiving an email from eBay customer support that said the representative was "unable to verify the cause of this problem" and was forwarding it on to the Technical Team. The email stated, "there is no estimate on the resolution of this matter."
The email from eBay recommended sellers relist items, but a few posters recommended sellers not relist items because they may ultimately end up showing as duplicates.
Sellers also report that listings of old inventory that are sold are not being removed from the sales page; when shoppers click on those listings, they get a "not available" message.
On Sunday afternoon, eBay posted a notice of the problem on the Systems Announcement Board: "Some members may experience issues selling, searching for, or buying items that were listed on Half.com between midnight last Wednesday and this morning. These items may not also be showing up in searches and on members' My Account pages" (http://www2.ebay.com/aw/core/200610011333501.html).
At Friday's Town Hall meeting, eBay Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer Gary Briggs said the company had begun linking to Half.com on eBay in the media categories, and that beginning in early 2007, it will add all Half.com listings to eBay search results.
