eBay released a study that shows Austin, Texas is the most impatient city in America. The study, commissioned by eBay Express, pinpoints exactly where Americans want, expect and are willing to pay for speed and convenience. By issuing a press release with the research results, eBay hopes to draw attention to its new fixed-price marketplace.
eBay used this same technique in Europe and Australia recently when it launched DoorOne last week. eBay is marketing DoorOne as an aid for time-starved mainstream shoppers, and the launch was accompanied by press releases citing survey data showing consumers are strapped for time. (In Australia, a DoorOne survey found 44 percent of respondents did not have the right balance between work and personal life; in the UK, 60 percent of respondents would forgo junk food to have a three day weekend.)
