SingleFeed Beta is a new service for online sellers to help them submit listings to shopping engines. SingleFeed simplifies the data-feed management and submission process by allowing merchants to create a single feed for Google Base, Shopzilla, Shopping.com, Yahoo Shopping, PriceGrabber, NexTag, Become, and Smarter.com.
Founder Brian Smith, who covers comparison-shopping sites in his ComparisonEngines.com blog (http://www.comparisonengines.com), said SingleFeed saves merchants a significant amount of time and money by allowing them to create an optimized data feed and correct all errors for that feed through the online service. While it may take longer to create the SingleFeed, merchants only have to do it once.
During the Beta period, merchants can submit to Google Base (which automatically gets the merchant on Froogle and possibly Google itself) for the special price of $4.99 per month in October and November. Deluxe Submission to Google Base plus any or all of the other seven shopping comparison engines SingleFeed supports costs $99.99 per month plus a one-time $29.99 set up fee in October and November. No software download is required.
As an incentive for signing up for the Deluxe Submission service, Smith has negotiated special free click offers for all merchants who sign up for the first time with Shopzilla, Smarter.com, PriceGrabber, and Become. These free clicks represent more than $150 in savings.
The Beta release of SingleFeed does not work in Firefox and has a number of limitations in terms of reporting and analytics. These issues will be addressed over the next few months, Smith said, and a new design will be implemented before the end of October.
Update 10/11/06: Currently merchants must have a shopping cart to work with SingleFeed.
