eBay Postpones Rollout of New Email Feature

eBay announced it had run into unexpected product-related issues while testing the Anonymous Email Forwarding feature. The feature, announced in October, allows sellers to respond to emails sent through eBay's systems (such as Ask Seller A Question) from their own email client, while still protecting the privacy of email addresses. The new feature is important because scammers take advantage of the current system to create more targeted, realistic-looking phishing emails used to defraud users or steal their identities.
Thursday's announcement from eBay read in part, "These issues could cause complications for buyers and sellers that choose to use this feature to communicate with each other. Bearing in mind that the ability to communicate with your buyers and sellers is critical on eBay especially during the holidays, we have decided to wait to launch this feature." eBay will update users with more details after the holiday shopping season.
