eBay UK Expands Skype Integration

eBay UK has expanded the number of categories in which sellers can insert Skype buttons. eBay acquired Skype last year, and the Skype program lets users make voice and video calls over the Internet to other Skype users anywhere in the world for free.

eBay rolled out a test of Skype integration into the UK eBay site in July and announced the expansion of Skype-allowed categories on December 1st. Sellers can add either a chat or call button (or both) to listings (Skype names and eBay accounts must be linked).

The Skype button is now available in the following categories on the UK site:

  • Antiques
  • Baby
  • Business, Office & Industrial: Commercial Property
  • Cars, Parts & Vehicles: Other Vehicles
  • Coins
  • Consumer Electronics: DJ Equipment
  • Consumer Electronics: Home Audio/ Hi Fi
  • Consumer Electronics: MP3 Player Accessories
  • Consumer Electronics: Portable Audio
  • Consumer Electronics: Professional/ Studio: Audio
  • Consumer Electronics: Professional/ Studio: Audio Test Equipment
  • Consumer Electronics: Radio Equipment
  • Consumer Electronics: Televisions
  • Crafts
  • Everything Else
  • Health & Beauty
  • Home & Garden
  • Musical Instruments
  • Photography
  • Pottery, Porcelain & Glass
  • Sports Memorabilia
  • Stamps
