Reading AuctionBytes: Paid Pursues Patent for Ecommerce Shipping Calculator

In a "corporate update" release issued on Wednesday, Paid Inc. revealed it is continuing to pursue a patent for the online shipping calculation processes used in its AuctionInc shipping calculation technology. In May 2006, Paid received from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) a verbal notification of allowance, and Paid said it continues to work with the USPTO, remaining confident that they will receive the formal notification of allowance and issuance of the patent. Paid is using the law firm of Hunton & Williams LLP, the same firm that successfully represented MercExchange in its patent lawsuit against eBay.

Pending receipt, Paid plans to pursue a variety of possible revenue streams from its AuctionInc platform and patent, which hosts a suite of management tools and enhanced shipping calculator solutions for ecommerce enterprises. In the meantime, Paid said the list of registered AuctionInc users has grown.
