eBay UK Imposes Restrictions on Sony PlayStation 3 Systems

eBay UK is imposing restrictions on the sale of Sony PlayStation 3 gaming systems due to high demand and their limited supply. eBay US had imposed similar restrictions during the fall holiday shopping season on its eBay.com site. At that time, it cited concerns over well-intentioned sellers who might be unable to meet their pre-sale obligations as well as concern over fraudulent listings as had occurred during the launch of the Microsoft Xbox 360.
eBay UK said sellers must comply with certain requirements in order to pre-sell a European region PS3 console during the pre-sale period (thorugh March 23), including offering PayPal as the only payment method, being PayPal verified, and banning Buy It Now and 1-day listings.
