eBay Listing Tool Glitch Changes Listings to US-Only Shipping
By Ina Steiner AuctionBytes.com March 06, 2007
Sellers who use eBay's Turbo Lister tool to list auctions are reporting a glitch affecting shipping options. When sellers have chosen worldwide shipping as the default, new listings appear as being limited to US shipping only. Sellers also report that when they go to revise listings to show they will ship worldwide in order to fix the problem, the software then deletes some of the HTML code in the listing.
Sellers began reporting the problem on February 11 in eBay's Turbo Lister discussion board, and the problem appeared to clear up, but sellers began noting the problem again last week.
Jim, a seller of collectibles, wrote to AuctionBytes on February 18. "This is going to cost me, and everyone else, big money and lots of wasted time. 40% of my collectibles business comes from overseas buyers, and they bid on even more than that."
Another seller named Jeff wrote on Sunday, "I also think that a lot don't even realize this is going on. One of my International Buyers brought it to my attention this morning and I'm just going back now to see how far back it goes. So far I'm back to the 15th of February (So that's why my sales have plummeted the last few weeks)."
The discussion boards devoted to discussion about Turbo Lister has many posts complaining about the new version of the free listing tool. It seems the latest problem to surface is a disappearing return policy (http://forums.ebay.com/db1/thread.jspa?threadID=2000324908).
eBay did not respond to an email inquiry by press time.
