Reading AuctionBytes: CityXpress Signs El Tiempo as Event-Auction Reseller in Latin America

CityXpress has signed Casa Editorial El Tiempo S.A. of Bogotá, Colombia as its authorized reseller for event auctions in the Spanish-speaking markets of Mexico, Central and South America, and the Caribbean. CityXpress is a leading developer of revenue-generating marketplace products and programs for newspapers and the broadcast media.

Casa Editorial El Tiempo is the publisher of El Tiempo, Colombia's largest daily newspaper, which successfully staged CityXpress' first Spanish-language auction in July-August 2006 and is planning its second auction for April 2007. The company will be responsible for marketing the CityXpress auction program to more than 300 Spanish-language newspapers in 19 countries.

CityXpress currently conducts auctions with newspapers in seven languages, including Spanish, in 15 countries in the Americas, Europe, Australasia and Africa. The company has staged over 650 auctions since 2002, earning more than $165 million in revenue for about 375 newspaper partners.

Newspaper auctions are online events staged with goods and services provided by local retailers in exchange for promotional exposure and advertising credits that are earned if the retailers' items sell. Auctions help newspapers attract new advertisers and generate incremental revenue from existing advertisers, while boosting in-store traffic for vendors and producing good deals for consumers.
