eBay's Trust & Safety boards heated up when users found they were unable to report suspicious listings to eBay using the link inside listings. At the bottom of eBay listings, there is a link called "report this item." Users began posting on Monday that they were unable to report suspicious or violating listings and instead got a message that only high bidders could report listings.
An eBay spokesperson said she would look into the matter and did not get back with clarification by press time. Users are unsure whether the move is a policy change or a glitch.
An AuctionBytes reader tried to report a listing for a vehicle being offered for $16,000 that she said is worth $50,000 and that she believed was being offered through a hijacked account. She said users may still report listings here (http://tinyurl.com/oz2xh), but not using the link on the listing page.
