eBay sellers may have noticed that bidding activity has not been showing up in their My eBay control panel. But others may not have noticed the glitch, since it went unreported by eBay. Sellers like Stan, who sells on eBay as a hobby, rely on the bid reports in My eBay to make sure that bidders are qualified and are adhering to the requirements set out in their terms of sale.
Stan said he only found out about the problem when a buyer emailed him through eBay informing him that he had a bidder who did not meet his requirements. "I look on My eBay/selling for that item and see there is no bidder! I thought he was crazy." He has cancelled two inappropriate bids since discovering the problem, but said it takes him too much time to go into each auction to check if there are bids.
Another seller who experienced the problem said, "I wish eBay would indeed put these problems on their system problem board so I would know THEY know about it and are working on them!!!"
eBay spokesperson Nichola Sharpe said on Thursday the company's product teams are already aware of the problem and a fix has rolled out. "All new items will show the correct number of bids in My eBay." However, she did not specify when the fix rolled out.
