eBay Bedfellows Compete: Yahoo versus Google

The New York Times is reporting today that Yahoo plans to acquire Right Media, a privately held company that runs an advertising marketplace. The move is seen as a way for Yahoo to counter Google's acquisition of DoubleClick.
Both Yahoo and Google have advertising agreements with eBay. Yahoo is the exclusive third-party provider of all graphical advertisements throughout the eBay.com site, and provides sponsored search results on eBay.com search results pages (http://www.auctionbytes.com/cab/abn/y06/m05/i25/s03). Yahoo also promotes eBay's payment service, and recently teamed up with eBay on a new online payment program called Yahoo! PayPal Checkout that competes with Google Checkout.
Google, meanwhile, is the exclusive text-based advertising service for eBay outside the United States in a deal that has the two companies exploring "click-to-call" advertising functionality.
