Are eBay Drop-off Stores Meeting Owners' Expectations?
By Ina Steiner

The satisfaction of owning an eBay drop-off store may be influenced in part by whether a store is independent or is part of a franchise. A recent survey revealed that 73 percent of franchises storeowners' expectations about their business had not been met, but independent storeowners were evenly divided on the issue, with 50 percent reporting the business had met their original expectations, and 50 percent reporting it had not met their original expectations.

Has this business met your original expectations?

. Yes No
Independents 50% 50%
Franchise stores 27% 73%
Combined (independents and franchise) 37% 63%

Of the total respondents, 58 percent operated a franchise consignment store. The survey was conducted by AuctionBytes in April with 101 stores participating and covered issues relating to marketing, operations, sales, regulation and overall satisfaction. The full survey results are published on the AuctionBytes website.
