Members of the National Auctioneers Association from across the country joined their fellow auctioneers in Washington, D.C. this week to "educate members of Congress about the auction industry and its impact on the U.S. economy."

The two-day Auction Action on Capitol Hill Day event included seminars on federal legislation impacting the industry and training sessions on how to advocate and interact with elected officials.

Indiana Congressman Bill Souder spoke before the group on Wednesday morning providing them with an "inside look" at the world of Washington D.C. politics. The event concluded with NAA delegates meeting with over 80 members of Congress and their staffs.

"It is imperative that both the NAA and its members be engaged in the legislative process and establish positive, lasting relationships with legislators at both the state and federal levels," said Bill Sheridan, president of the National Auctioneers Association. "Thanks in part to the overwhelming support, time and commitment by this year's participants, the auction industry now has a strong voice in the halls of Congress."
