eBay to Move Australian Site to New Platform

Reading AuctionBytes: eBay to Move Australian Site to New Platform

eBay Australia announced that the site's category structure will be undergoing significant change in July, August and September, calling it a move toward a new platform that would deliver more relevant results for buyers.

The ramifications of the announcement were not obvious, but it seems likely a move that will migrate across all of eBay's international sites. eBay explained that eBay Australia's category structure will evolve to become a list of product types rather than a hybrid system that inconsistently includes aspects such as brand, color, etc. "This will help facilitate the 75% of buyers who search for their items. The goal is to allow sellers to classify items broadly, without being forced into a rigid category structure."

Sellers will eventually be asked to adjust recurring listings to reflect the new category numbers and to update Turbo Lister settings.
