Ztail.com launched a service this week to help casual sellers create professional listings and publish to eBay, classified sites and their favorite social network sites, including MySpace, Facebook and blogs. Ztail CEO Bill Hudak said he sees room for improvement in helping people sell online in an easy, informed way, pointing to a recent survey released by eBay showing that the average US household has approximately $3,000 of unused things in their home. Hudak said, "We're really excited to show people how easy and rewarding online selling can be." Hudak and Dave Keefer founded Ztail in 2006.
Ztail simplifies selling by searching product and transaction data for millions of items and automating the listing process. Ztail is part of eBay's Developer Program and uses the Shopping.com API to provide data - such as manufacturer specifications - that automatically populates Ztail listings.

Once the listing is created, Ztail instantly distributes the listing to selected friends via blogs, email and social networking sites such as Facebook and MySpace. Ztail also offers tools to help users track and adjust activity in their personal MyZtail pages.
"The use of personal media is exploding; people already have a network of potential buyers with established trust and similar interests," Hudak said. "We make it easy to create a listing and tell anyone about it - your friends, their friends, or anyone looking for your product online. Click Once. Sell Everywhere. It's that simple."
But what about the more serious seller who doesn't need help listing items on eBay, but is intrigued with the notion of pushing listings out to their blogs and to their pages on MySpace and Facebook? Hudak said the company is very interested in helping them and said they have the technology in place to pull in listings from eBay and push them out to social media sites. However, they want feedback from PowerSellers so they can tailor the service before marketing it.
Hudak said Ztail has set up an email for eBay PowerSellers to contact the company if they want to help test the tools: powersellers@ztail.com. "We can have something ready for a limited number of private testers to use in a week or so where we take existing listings and promote them into social media."
Hudak said Ztail is not for sellers interested in simply monetizing traffic to their blogs, but rather for sellers who are engaged in selling their products.
