eBay announced last week during its annual conference that it was running a "summer relief" promotion. From June 19 through August 5, eBay will lower the first tranche of the Final Value Fees from 5.25 percent to 4.5 percent for eligible auction, auction BIN, and pure fixed-price format listings. eBay now has a page up describing the promotion (http://pages.ebay.com/promo/finalvaluefees). You can learn about all of the announcements made during the keynote address on AuctionBytes (http://www.auctionbytes.com/cab/abn/y07/m06/i15/s01).
In other important news, eBay announced that the PayPal site would undergo a scheduled data center upgrade on June 18, 2007, beginning at 9 p.m. Pacific time and scheduled to last for approximately two hours. eBay said during the upgrade, the PayPal site and a majority of its features would be unavailable: merchants, eBay sellers, and buyers - on and off eBay - would be unable to pay for items, print labels, view Account History, and more (http://www2.ebay.com/aw/core/200706071112471.html). AuctionBytes will report on any developments.
