VietNamNet Bridge reports that eBay launched its website in Vietnamese in Hanoi on June 27. The Vietnamese site has not been added to the list of countries in which it operates that is found at the footer on the bottom of eBay's pages.
A website that acts as a portal to eBay's Asian properties (http://ebayasiapromo.com) includes a link to the site, along with links to eBay's Singapore, Hong Kong and Thai sites.
The Vietnamese-language site is found at http://www.ebay.vn and includes a link to toggle between Vietnamese and English-language versions.
eBay recently launched a Chinese site at eBay.cn, a B2B site different from the one it is set to launch in a joint venture with Tom Online later this summer. And eBay recently entered into an agreement with Sanook, a leading online portal in Thailand, to launch an ecommerce site that will enable individuals and businesses in Thailand to participate in local trade as well as cross border trade through eBays global Web sites.
