eBay's online payment subsidiary PayPal has hired Dan Schatt as Senior Director of Strategy starting July 23, 2007. Schatt will report to PayPal President Rajiv Dutta and will help the company enhance its overall growth strategy. Schatt was formerly a senior banking analyst for research firm Celent where he was frequently quoted in the press about PayPal and other payment services. Prior to Celent, he worked at Yodlee Inc.
According to his Celent profile, Schatt has worked on projects examining the converging channels of digital, mobile, and physical commerce and how banks, device manufacturers, mobile carriers, retailers, and third party technology providers develop business and technology strategies and tactics for future growth.
In other news, PayPal announced last week that its wholly-owned subsidiary PayPal Data Services Inc. is opening a new technology development center in Austin, Texas and plans to hire hundreds of local technical professionals in the next three years.
