With the 2007 U.S. Open Championship behind us, golf spectators showed that golf is a favorite sport of many Americans. With summer officially here, the weather is, in most people's eyes, golf ready.
Golf clubs are currently listed among the top five hottest selling items on eBay. Most golf clubs are sold as sets on eBay. More than 31,000 golf clubs have sold on eBay within the past two months at an average selling price of $123.72, and total sales have reached $268,267. A set of 1930 Bobby Jones Grand Slam Replica golf clubs were the highest-priced item and sold for $2,150.
The most popular brands listed on eBay include Titleist, Callaway and Ping, and they have the highest success rates and highest total items sold. Ping averages a 71.01% success rate and an average price of $121.68. Titleist clubs follow closely with a 69.17% success rate and has an average price of $138.64. Callaway golf clubs have a 61.42% success rate and an average selling price of $168.84.
The love of golf has no boundaries - it is quite popular globally. In the U.K., Germany and Australia, golf clubs have a high selling rate on eBay as well.
In the U.K., more than 12,000 golf clubs have sold on eBay within the past 90 days. The average selling price is $111.09 with a success rate of 35.92%. A pair of Callaway Fusion golf clubs were the highest priced listing at $1,623.93.
In Australia, more than 1,000 golf clubs have sold on eBay. The Taylor Made R7 complete golf set, which included a graphite stiff shaft driver, 3 and 5 woods, irons 3 through 9, a sand wedge, a pitching wedge and a putter, sold for $1,052.41 - the highest priced item in the past 30 days. Golf clubs in Australia have a success rate of 47.5%.
There are seven times more golf clubs sold in the United States than in the U.K., and more than one hundred times than in Australia (on eBay). Although the numbers differ from location to location, the trends are the same. In all three locations, golf club sales start ramping up in early April and continue through mid July.

Summer is definitely a good time to sell golf clubs on eBay. Many eBay buyers use their vacation time from work in the summer and opt for a new set of clubs as a treat. eBay sellers that list golf accessories along with their clubs are seeing high success rates as well. Headcovers, range finders and ball markers make up the top three hottest selling golfing accessories with success rates of 34.78%, 38.76% and 46.78% respectively.
Enjoy the greens!
