Developer Launches First eBay Shopping App for the iPhone

Users of Apple's new iPhone can bid on eBay items thanks to a new shopping application released by SilkSystem Solutions called iPhone My eBay. The eBay shopping assistant application enables iPhone users to bid, view and add items to their Watch list, see item details and check auction status. It also features keyword searching and Advanced Search options.

The application user interface is optimized for the iPhone experience, including scrolling, number pad, and tap functionality. iPhone users do not have to log into eBay in order to use the search feature. The program will remain free, as SilkSystem Solutions generates revenue through the eBay Affiliate program anytime someone registers or makes a winning bid using the application.

SilkSystem Solutions cofounder Chuck Hudson said future features under consideration include the ability to leave feedback using My eBay and the ability to pull up favorite saved searches. He said the company is also considering adding a comparison pricing feature and PayPal integration.

eBay announced the application on its Developers Program blog on Monday (http://ebaydeveloper.typepad.com/dev/2007/07/ebay-on-iphone.html). The product is a designated eBay Compatible Application and uses eBay's recently released PlaceOffer API.
