Auction Sentry Software won a Peoples Choice Award at the Software Industry Conference in Denver, Colorado last month. Auction Sentry Deluxe won "Best Vertical Market Program or Utility" at the awards, which are devoted to recognizing shareware software (http://www.siavoting.com/pcwinners.php).
Auction Sentry Software first released its sniping program in 2001. The software tracks eBay auctions and places users' bids just before the auction closes.
eBay buyers place bids at the last minute (snipe bidding) so they don't signal their intention to buy to other bidders. eBayers can choose between software sniping programs or hosted applications, both of which let the bidder be away from their computer at the auction's last moments, or they may manually bid on the auction at the last minute (http://www.auctionbytes.com/cab/pages/sniping).
