Amazon.com announced last week that developers can now integrate its Amazon Payments service with their websites and applications using Amazon FPS (Flexible Payments Service). However, there are restrictions on who can use Amazon Payments to send or receive money. The following information was provided to AuctionBytes by Amazon.
The service is currently only available in the US, but developers from around the world can use the Amazon FPS sandbox to build and test applications. To run live transactions with Amazon FPS, developers must register for a production FPS account. This requires a US-based bank account and mailing address. Foreign companies must also be registered as international companies in the US to use Amazon FPS for live production applications.
International senders can use their Amazon Payments account on Amazon FPS powered sites but are limited to credit card payments only. International Amazon Payments account holders cannot receive money into their Amazon Payments account or pay via ACH. All transactions are in US dollars.
