Zoovy Reinvents Ecommerce Service after Management Changes
By Ina Steiner

CEO David Steel left Zoovy in February, and company founder and Chief Technical Guy Brian Horakh took over as CEO. Zoovy launched in 1999 and is used by eBay and online sellers to manage their ecommerce businesses. Horakh said Steel stepped down as CEO for personal reasons but is still involved in a business development role.

Horakh posted the news of Steel's departure on the Auction Software Review website last week (http://www.auctionsoftwarereview.com/software/zoovy.asp), where he apologized to users. He also wrote to members leaving reviews, "If you are going to chime in - PLEASE make sure you have recent experience with the company. Not some experience from 3+ years ago with a company that had the same name," asking for those who were customers prior to 2007 to give the company another chance.

Horakh told AuctionBytes the company has a more customer-focused approach. Zoovy no longer has sales people, but rather, Business Development Specialists who have a different set of responsibilities. Zoovy has 30 employees now, compared to 22 in January.

Horakh said Zoovy is looking for customers who want Zoovy to be a part of their business and get more involved in what they are doing, rather than the customer that just wants software as cheaply as possible. But he was reluctant to give specifics on Zoovy's new pricing structure, saying the model worked really well, and he did not want to tip competitors who might copycat the pricing model.

Apologizing on the Auction Software Review site was "the right thing to do," Horack said, and said Zoovy is a different company. "The same funny name, different company."
